Strong Government Relations
The DSA has its finger on the pulse of government at all levels: monitoring issues, consulting regulatory bodies and officials, and lobbying on behalf of the industry. We provide a collective voice to ensure an open marketplace in which our member companies and their ISCs can conduct business, reviewing proposed legislation that affects such things as product regulations, and monitoring provincial and municipal licencing requirements, to name a few.
Our track record from a government relations perspective includes such successes as:
- harmonization of provincial direct selling legislation
- amendments to the Competition Act
- creation of the Direct Selling Alternative Collection Mechanism for GST
- annual appearances before House of Commons committees, including pre-budget consultations
- well-attended annual reception on Parliament Hill for all MPs and Senators
Education & Training
Whether it's the DSA's Annual Conference, or work-shops and seminars through the year, members benefit from the DSA's unique industry perspective into business trends and best practices.
Research & Industry Insight
The DSA team, dedicated to elevating information to insight, is a resource of industry and economic trends – a knowledge bank for business decisions. Through regular alerts, the DSA keeps you in the loop on breaking news.
And the DSA Web site offers 24/7 access to critical issues and information, not only to the public and those interested in starting their own businesses, but to our member companies whom we engage through more detailed content in our Members Only area.
Networking & Brainstorming
There's nothing like face–to–face and, in the fun that DSA disguises as networking, you'll enjoy events as you meet member company contacts.
Sharing ideas and brainstorming issues is a great way to build strong relationships, even friendships. And, when you have a burning question about your business, check the Member Directory, pick up the phone, and tap into the best practices and experiences of your peers.
